Summary from Goodreads:
We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?
Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing.
Claire.
Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan's not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it's a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can't bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan's ever found.
New Adult Romantic Suspense / Realistic Fiction
Recommended for 17+ for mature and disturbing situations, language and sexual content.

Wow. ...W.T.F... I can not believe what I just read. Nearly Broken has haunted my dreams and has stayed with me for days. This has been a complete mind f**k. Even with a few days to think on this, I'm still having a difficult time articulating my emotions.
First let me say that Nearly Broken involves subjects involving kidnapping, rape, human trafficking, physical abuse. If you do not believe you can handle this please do not read.
I went into Nearly Broken believing it was going to be lighter than it was due to the cover being so innocent looking.
Two years, five months, twelve days since Claire went missing.
Six months before me.
Had I been here replacement.
Nearly Broken is told from the POV of Megan Smith. Megan is broken and scared beyond belief. Constantly looking over her shoulder. Careful not to allow anyone to get too close to her.
Gradually she lets her guard down and start to have a sense of safety after a new cook name Nick comes into town. Almost immediately these two are drawn to each other forming a natural bond. Nick has a secret of his own when it comes to Megan. Looking back it explained his need to protect to protect her.
Ms. Ashley has surprised me with this heart racing, dark, suspenseful read. I stayed on the edge of my seat the entire time. Just when I was becoming wrapped up in Megan’s safe world... Wham! Bam! Pow! The complete mind f**k moment comes in to junk punch me. Leaving me absolutely floored.
Nearly Broken is a sure read for bookies who enjoyed C.J. Roberts The Dark Duet series and tend to walk on the dark side.
The End.
But really, just another beginning...
