Book Review: Spark (Fire on the Mountain #1) by Erin Noelle

Spark - Erin Noelle

Released: April 22,2015
Series: Fire on the Mountain #1
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, NA, Erotic

I'm failing.
My younger brother is getting worse, and my job - my duty - is to help him at all costs. We've tried everything modern medicine has to offer and nothing works.
Nothing.
Deciding to turn to unconventional treatments, we end up at Fire-on-the-Mountain, a holistic resort deep in the Rockies.
In our search for medical marijuana, I find beautiful, free-spirited Hudson Shavell - a girl who may not only hold the key to heal my brother, but to fix me as well. Even though I can't afford distractions right now, she's all I can think about. All that I want.

It's funny how everything can change with one little SPARK.

***Though Spark is the first book in the Fire on the Mountain Series, it is a stand alone novel***
***Intended for mature audiences only***

Without a doubt Spark has to be one of the best that I’ve read this summer. Considering I am a self claim cover connoisseur Erin definitely picked a great one.

Spark had so much for me to enjoy, I’m not even going to attempt to figure out what aspect was my favorite. Honestly, I was able to experience multiple emotions along with the characters. Speaking of which I absolutely love everyone of them.

Hudson has this educated shy stoner hippie save the world thing that actually works for her. At times I didn’t understand the choices her parents allowed her to make, but as the story progress I started to realize they were just allowing her to be herself.

In the beginning I thought Crew was going to be the typical man whore that’s portrayed in every other story, but he was like the complete opposite. Family came first for him, which was sweet and sad at the same time.

Hudson and Crew path to each other is a rather unconventional one. Crew and his family are on the search for an alternative treatment for his younger brother, Caleb epilepsy. After much internet searching he finds himself at Hudson’s family bed and breakfast style place. From the moment they laid eyes on each things were never the same.

I have to admit one of my personal highs has to be the fact that Spark is told in a dual POV, I can’t explain how much I adore being both characters brain. It makes the story that much well rounded for me. The writing flowed at steady pace, I stayed engaged the entire time refusing to put my Nook down, even when my eyes were begging me to do so. Spark is my first experience with Erin Noelle’s work and I cannot wait to experience more.

Book Review: Penetrated On Ponetown - Moxie Darling

Penetrated on Ponetown - Moxie Darling
April 22, 2015
Series: Back Roads #1
Genre:Erotic
Goodreads * Amazon

On a mission to bring the love of literacy to impoverished rural children, Clover Willoughby finds herself stranded on a dry, dusty West Virginia back road. Out of gas, out of service, and out of patience, she starts walking. When she stumbles across a quaint cabin in the woods, she's relieved at her good fortune. Her relief turns to trepidation—and anticipation—when the rough, crude mountain man living there offers to assist her . . . for a price. And he's not interested in money.

(Disclaimer: this novella is for adults only. It contains explicit sex scenes, rough sex, ménage situations, sex with strangers, and taboo elements that some might find offensive.)

The first question that came to mind when POP was brought to my attention was “Why does this sound like a bad 70s porn. While I am no stranger to kink and erotic this was different mainly because there was zero romance leading up to the leading up to the sex. It just was what it was. At some point I remember being put in the mindset of the KY commercial that I find not only cute, awkwardly sexy and almost comical.

 photo 593_zpsirybdakg.gif

Clover finds herself in an unlucky situation when her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. She’s lost and has no phone service. Pressing her luck she decides to embark a small journey in search of someone that can help her. After sometime she comes upon a small cabin, upon asking the owner Jim for some assistance he offers her a trade. Gas for ass. Major question is Clover feeling lucky enough to take him up on his offer.

This was a very quick read I actually was able to read it in a short amount of time. My only complaint was that it was a little too short, but it was very entertaining all the same and I like how the story flowed. Will I read Moxie's work again? For sure!!

Harper Kincaid's Rule Breaker Blog Tour

Rule Breaker - Harper Kincaid

Released May 3, 2015
Series:Break on Through # 1
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Erotic

Just one more can’t hurt…right?

Re-belle-ious, free-spirited Lauren Renwick has decided it’s time to trade her wings for roots. That means no more bad boys, no more foolish choices. Yet when she’s stood up on New Year’s Eve, her resolution to stick to her Mama’s Rules for Dating weakens. Especially when she spots sex-in-leather-and-tattoos, Jackson Sullivan.

One look at Lauren, and Jackson is hell-bent on getting her on the back of his Harley and riding straight for his bed. Their night together is an erotic rush that has a new word popping up on his horizon—forever.

Lauren tries to convince herself he’s just one last fling to get bad boys out of her system, yet she finds herself falling hard and fast for a man with a stalker ex and a meddling Irish family. Plus, he has zero chance of passing her uptight parents’ inspection.

Jackson has Lauren’s back, but if she wants all of his heart, she’ll have to meet him halfway—by ditching rules that hold her prisoner, and learning to stand up for what she really wants.

 photo picadillygray_zpsaa73e183.png

The only “Rule” I believe that has been broken is that Harper Kincaid didn’t make this one longer and the story didn’t have a dual POV ( I have a small obsession with these). The cover of course caught my attention and the blurb seal the deal for me when deciding to pick this one up.

Lauren Renwick is all about rules, which seems to be a complete contradiction to who she is because she refuses to follow them, my first guess is because the rules that she’s trying to follow are not her own. Upset with how her life is going after being dumped on New Years Night, Lauren is in need of a good drink and finds herself unexpecting what may be the right place.

Almost immediately she catches the attention of the bar owner ,Jackson Sullivan whom came completed with tattoos, leather, and a side of zero bs, needless to say he was all male. One first sight these two had different plans, Lauren thought Jackson would be her last fling before she put her world in order, little did she know this man had plans of not only claiming her, but also keeping her. The only remaining question for Lauren is if Jackson is worth breaking a few rules.

While this was a very short it was jammed packed with lust and drama, The drama at times was a bit much, and it kind of bothered me how quickly things were resolved. It would have been nice if the story was longer to allow things to progress at a pace that’s not rapid. All in all I enjoyed the story Harper Kincaid created.

Born in California and raised in South Florida, I've moved around like a gypsy with a bounty on my head ever since. Along the way, I've worked as a community organizer, a professional matchmaker, an art teacher, a popular blogger, and a crisis counselor (to name a few). That wish has finally come true and I am tickled pink with glitter over this good piece of fortune.

I was about to marry the man of my dreams.
We had it all; a life that most could only wish for. I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
Then, in the blink of an eye, it was taken from me.
Now I can’t grasp how to move forward.
I don’t even think I want to.
Whether I’m dead or alive, my happily ever after is NEVER going to happen

I needed to get myself up off the floor and prepare to bury my very best friend, the man of my dreams and love of my life. On this day I’d say goodbye to him in front of a crowd of people that knew and loved him. On this day I’d bury our hopes and dreams in that casket with him.  I’d say farewell to the future that would never be; to the children we’d never make. I’d bury my soul with him, because that’s where it belonged. On this particular day a part of me would die too, much like the moment I knew he was gone.

To get to him, I need to use her.
I’ll play her like a violin and have her falling in love with me before she even knows what’s happening.
It will be easy. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.
She’s just a girl.
A tool to get what I want.
When I’m done with her I won’t think twice about walking away.
At least, that was what I thought.
Until I met her.

“Something wrong?” I say, trying not to look too interested.
“Nothing. Just my daughter being herself. I know I should be more firm with her, but she’s my only daughter.” He heaves a heavy sigh and I mentally curse. If she’s texting him, then that probably means she isn’t going to be here tonight. Swing and a miss. Again.
“How old is she?” I ask, even though I know. Down to her birthdate.
“Twenty. But she doesn’t always act it.” He shakes his head like a long-suffering father and the fellow across the way commiserates with him. Apparently he and his wife have four daughters (all grown, obviously). I sit and listen, waiting my turn. The comedian on stage is still going, but not many people are actually listening to him.
“Do you have any children, Mr. Brand?” Beaumont says. I shake my head.
“No, I don’t.” I don’t elaborate. “So what’s the issue with yours?” I’m not above brown-nosing to get the information I want. I’m also not above doing anything to get what I want, actually.
“Typical rebellion. I thought she’d gotten it out of her system in her teenage years, but it seems that was just the beginning.” He turns his eyes to the ceiling, as if begging God. Or cursing him.

“Well, I can’t offer any advice on that front. But I’m sure she’ll come around,” I say, finishing my soup.

It goes without question if you’re a fan of mystery and drama then you would absolutely enjoy Ketley Allsion’s Snapped. My favorite thing has to be how the story starts at the end and the takes you full circle. This is one of those ones that kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing. While reading Snapped it put me in the mindset of Pretty Little Liars, which all of the secrets and lies. I have to admit it, I trusted absolutely NO ONE.

Snapped is made up of 7 novella that give you a small taste of what’s going to next, while keeping you on the hunt for a killer. I super happy I had all of the parts before beginning this mystery, because it would have drove me to madness if I had to wait to see what happens next.

Almost immediately I took a liking to Charlie, she’s recently relocated to New York with her bestie Lara, enrolled in law school and trying to be the best girlfriend to a star athlete, while trying not to allow the media take her down. She had this authentic thing going on about her. Slade was the perfect gentleman and boyfriend. I like how he would never wanted Charlie to change for anyone. The secondary characters much to the story without taking over like her found friend Reagan and her brother Nate.

The end….Nothing what I was expecting, but I should have expected that since I’m one of those weirdos that read the review before diving. Of course that didn’t take away any of my enjoyment.

Snapped is more of a mystery thrill ride with a hint of romance, but it absolutely worked for this masterpiece that Ms. Allison’s has skillfully created and I can’t wait to experience more of her awesomeness.

Author's Bio:
Ketley Allison is a twenty-something (maybe almost thirty-something) author who believes that supernatural love shouldn’t stop at eighteen. She began her career by writing books as birthday presents for her friends (with her friend as the main character and opposite a super sexy lead, of course) before ending it in order to walk down a path she thought she was supposed to follow.
The writing bug never left her—and, in fact, would often bleed into the official papers she was supposed to write—so now Ketley’s putting down her suit and finally following her dream. While her friends are no longer the stars of her books, she still throws in bits and pieces of them into each and every one of her characters.
As a result, her books tend to focus a lot on friendships as well as love, because let’s be honest, friends are what really get you through—especially when your epic love turns into epic heartbreak.

Getting Played by Mia Storm Blog

Getting Played - Mia Storm
Released: May 25, 2015
Series: Jail Bait #2
Genre: NA, Contemporary, Romance

Rules of the game:
1) Never underestimate your opponent
2) Avoid personal fouls
3) Score early and often
4) Play or get played

Coach Marcus Leon has always played by the rules…until he meets Addaline Grace, the seventeen-year-old senior transfer on his Oak Crest High water polo team. Addie changes all the rules, mostly because she doesn’t play any games. But as off limits as she is, the more Marcus discovers about Addie, the more he finds himself…and the more he questions whether Addie might just be worth risking everything for.

For Addie, water polo is anger management. She’s driven and focused because it keeps her mind off other things…like the fact she destroyed her family. Her game plan is to keep her head down and graduate so she can leave her father and the crappy town he dragged her to in her wake. But when what starts as friendly completion with Marcus turns into more than a game, Addie has to decide if she’s willing to face down her demons…and possibly ruin the man she may or may not be falling in love with in the process.

What happens when the only thing you need is the one thing you can’t have?

 photo picadillygray_zpsaa73e183.png

Like most that have read and enjoyed Getting Dirty by Mia Storm, I was more than ecstatic to get my hands on the second title of the Jail Bait series. While I didn’t enjoy Getting Played as much as I did with Getting Dirty, I still could not put this my reader down.

Staying to true it predecessor’s theme this story is told with a dual POV telling the forbidden love story of Marcus Leon and Addaline Grace.

We were given a brief introduction to Marcus when we met his sister Blaire with Getting Dirty. Marcus has been a star athlete for most of his life and now that he’s the new coach of Oak Crest High water polo team. Currently he’s a tad bitter about being overlooked for the P.E. and so to help make ends meet he has a second job at a local job. To make his life even better he has to play nice with his new brother in-law Caiden.

While wanting quiet time at the local park, on “his” bench, but instead of finding it empty he finds seventeen year old Addaline / Addie. Addie has just relocated to Oak Crest High with her father. She’s currently dealing with some dark ghosts from her past and a father with a heavy drinking problem.

Of course this was a super adorable story full of angst, heartache, and drama. I think what held me back from enjoying Getting Played as much is because the entire time I couldn’t get over of much of a hypocrite Marcus was. His dislike for his brother in-law’s actions are his own and it made me absolutely crazy.

I can’t wait until Ms. Storm’s comes with something new because that would be a definite must read for me.
