Book #1 of the Bestselling Consequences series:
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a suspenseful thriller about secrets and deception, passion and love, choices and consequences.
Every action has consequences.
Waking in an unfamiliar bedroom in a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols is terrified to discover that a chance encounter led her into the cruel hands of her abductor, Anthony Rawlings. Claire has no understanding of why she’s there, but it’s been made abundantly clear—she is now his acquisition and every action has consequences.
Learn the rules to survive.
Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive her new reality—every aspect of her livelihood depends upon the tall, dark-eyed tycoon who is a true master of deception. Driven by unknown demons, he has no tolerance for imperfection, in any aspect of his life, including his recent acquisition. Anthony may appear to the world as a handsome, benevolent businessman, but in reality Claire knows firsthand that he’s a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: do as you’re told, public failure is not an option, and appearances are of the utmost importance.
Captivate the captor.
To fit together the pieces of the puzzle, Claire must follow his rules. Will her plan work, or will Anthony become enthralled by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination, changing the game forever? If that happens, will either of them survive the consequences?
Nobody ever did or ever will escape the consequences of his choices.—Alfred A. Montapert
So are you telling me all of this pain and suffrage is because of some vendetta. A vendetta because one person was caught doing something wrong. A vendetta that I’m not even sure all parties involved knew about or even alive to know about. Stop it. I don’t not want to play this game anymore.
Consequences has been on my to read list for when seems like forever. I learned about this title after reading Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts. While these two have some similar paraphernalia there are completely two different beast. The erotic factor is very glossed over and the romance is not really romance but more so the idea of it.
Claire is trusting way too trusting. Her lack of suspicion in a well dressed, handsome man has land her in a mansion like prison. A prison that she had no way out of until Anthony “Tony” Rawlings was done with her. Consequences felt like one of the many Lifetime domestic violence movies that you find yourself yelling at the heroine to figure out a way to get away, but it never happened. At one point Tony appeared to give Claire a way out and she didn’t take it. Whyyyyyyy.
When embarking on this physiological mind f*k I was convinced I would be gravitating towards that stockholm syndrome feeling induced by Ms. Romig’s writing, but just when I was close I was doused with reality. Tony had zero redeeming qualities about him and he’s a bully and I really really don’t like him.
While I slightly disappointed that I procrastinated on reading Consequences, I think it all worked out since I DO NOT have to wait for Truth to be release to find out what happens next. Win for me.
